Menopause and Me: What I Didn’t Expect

Real menopause experiences and rediscovering self-worth
Menopause hit me harder than I imagined.
I expected the hot flushes. I didn’t expect the apathy - the way my energy would drain, the way my passions dulled. I didn’t expect to be tossing and turning at night, legs hanging out of the covers just to cool down.
And then my body changed. Clothes fit differently. Sleepwear available in stores was just wrong - too synthetic, too fussy, too revealing, or worse, too childish with stars and cartoon moons.
AWHen I had to go in for a hysterectomy, I went shopping in a rush. I came home with nothing. Nothing felt like me.
That was the turning point. I decided: Enough.
I deserve sleepwear that honours the woman I’ve become. Not the girl I was, nor the carefree young women - I was over 50!
So I worked with my mom, Petra, to create a prototype. The first time I put it on, I knew we were onto something. And when I talked to my friends - women facing the same challenges - I realised this wasn’t just my story.
Now, I wear only natural fabrics that keep me cool through the night, in designs that feel elegant and age-appropriate without ever being boring.
Because menopause is not the end of beauty. It’s the beginning of knowing your worth.
